You've got yourself a Power Rack (or are planning to) and now you're wondering: Which accessories do I really need as a beginner?
The answer is simple: Not everything at once. Many beginners buy too much unnecessary accessories and forget the parts that really matter – the ones that make training safer, more varied and more effective.
In this guide I'll show you the most important Power Rack attachments for beginners – tailored specifically to the Atletica R8 and R7 series. With clear prioritization so you don't get overwhelmed.

Detailed explanation of the top attachments
1. Adjustable Weight Bench (highest priority)
Without a good bench you can hardly do bench press, shoulder press or many other exercises. An adjustable bench (flat, incline, decline) is indispensable for beginners.
Tip: Look for a stable construction and good padding. Many Atletica benches are perfectly matched to the racks.
2. Dip Station / Dip Bars
One of the best exercises for chest, shoulders and triceps – and great for beginners (you can start with bodyweight and add weights later).
Most Atletica racks (R8 & R7) are prepared for it. Highly recommended as a first or second attachment.
3. Landmine Attachment
This is one of the most underrated attachments for beginners. With it you can do more joint-friendly variations of rows, presses, squats and rotational exercises. Especially good if you don't yet have much experience with free barbell movements.
4. Lat Pulldown / Cable Pulley System
If your rack (e.g. base R8 or a simple R7) doesn't have an integrated Lat Pulldown yet, you should add one relatively early. A good Lat Pulldown is worth its weight in gold for the entire back and arms.

5. Additional Safety / Spotter Arms
Most Atletica racks already come with good Spotter Arms. Still, it's often worth having a second pair – especially if you train alone and are getting heavier.
6. Step-Up Platform
Very practical for step-ups, elevated squats, hip thrusts or as a small shelf. Cheap and versatile.
7. Hip Thrust Pad / Bar Pad
Makes hip thrusts much more comfortable and safer. A small but very effective accessory, especially for women or anyone who wants to do glute training.
What you should buy later as a beginner
- Jammer Arms → Very cool, but only worthwhile once you're a bit more advanced.
- EXO Arms (R8 only) → Fantastic, but not necessary for most beginners in the first 12–18 months.
- Smith Machine (if not already integrated) → Can be added later, but isn't a must at the start.
- Lots of different handles & handle sets → Start with the most important ones (lat bar, rope, individual handles).
Recommendation based on your rack
For the R8 Blackhawk or R8 Bradley EXO:
- Start with: Adjustable bench + Dip Station + Landmine
- Then: Step-Up Platform + Hip Thrust Pad
- Later: More R8 attachments as needed
For the R7 EVO Fighter:
- Start with: Adjustable bench + Dip Station
- Then: Landmine + Step-Up Platform
- The R7 EVO Fighter already has many functions integrated, so you need slightly fewer add-ons at the start
A practical starter plan for beginners
Months 1–3: Just the rack + adjustable bench + Dip Station
Months 4–6: Add Landmine + Hip Thrust Pad
Month 7+: Further attachments depending on your training goal (e.g. Lat Pulldown, if not already present)
That way you stay organized and don't spend money unnecessarily.

Conclusion: Less is more – but the right things
As a beginner you don't need 15 different attachments. With a good bench, Dip Station and Landmine you already have an extremely versatile and safe setup.
Focus first on safety and the basic exercises – the rest comes with time.
