1. Who are Competition Bumper Plates designed for?

The Competition Bumper Plates were designed for experienced weightlifters who are preparing for competitions and need standardized weight plates. They’re also for demanding athletes who push limits and need gear that keeps up.

2. What makes Competition Bumper Plates different from normal Bumper Plates?

Competition Bumper Plates, in contrast to standard Bumper Plates, have a massive steel core. This makes them slimmer, allows higher total loading of the barbell, and they have almost no bounce.

3. Can the plates be dropped?

Yes, thanks to the combination of steel core and high-quality rubber, the plates can be dropped. They have better impact absorption and reduced bounce compared to normal Bumper Plates, which minimizes the risk of injury from bars aggressive rebounds.

4. What kind of rubber is used?

High-quality rubber that’s scratch-resistant, odor-neutral, abrasion-resistant, and color-fast—built for long-lasting performance.

5. How is the steel core protected?

The massive steel core is bonded to the rubber and finished with durable hard chrome plating.

6. Can the plates be used outdoors?

No, it’s not recommended. Although the hard chrome offers excellent corrosion protection, it’s not completely rust-resistant. In case of microcracks or damage to the hard chrome, rust can form on the steel core beneath. For outdoor training we recommend our High Temp Bumper Plates.

7. Do the plates meet international standards?

Yes, our Competition Bumper Plates are manufactured according to IWF standards. The max weight tolerance of +/- 10 grams meets the international requirements for competition approval. Optimally combinable with the Alpha barbell for weightlifting and the Beta barbell for powerlifting.

8. What advantage does the colored weight code offer?

The IWF standard color code makes weight selection quick and easy, especially in competition situations or during fast set changes.

9. What’s the diameter of the plates?

All Competition Bumper Plates have the standard 450 mm diameter approved by the IWF.
