STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO CUTTING YOUR GYM FLOORING MATS

1. Safety First — Wear protective gloves to prevent cuts.
2. Choose the Right Tool — Use a sharp carpet or utility knife with a straight edge. Skip the hand saws and circular saws — they'll shred the mat instead of cutting it cleanly.
3. Prepare the Surface — Think flat and level and protect the cutting surface (table or floor) with cardboard or a similar material. 
4. Measure and Mark — Use chalk or lightly score the cut line with the knife. 
5. Make the Cut — Place the straight edge along the measured line and cut firmly and smoothly in one motion. Repeat until fully separated. Spreading the mat apart as you go will reduce friction. 
6. Optimize Cutting Efficiency — Lightly moisten the blade with soapy water for smoother cutting but, be careful because it can also increase the risk of blade slippage.
7. Seal Gaps — Use black tape to cover seams and prevent dust or dirt from getting between the mats.
