2. What sets Competition Bumper Plates apart from regular bumper plates?

Unlike standard bumper plates, Competition Bumper Plates have a solid steel core. That makes them thinner, allows a higher total load on the barbell, and gives them virtually no bounce.

3. Can the plates be dropped?

Yes. Thanks to the combination of a steel core and high-quality rubber, the plates can be dropped without worry. They offer better impact absorption and less bounce than regular Bumper Plates, which reduces the risk of injury from a barbell bouncing too high.

4. What are the properties of the rubber?

The high-quality rubber is scratch-resistant, odorless, abrasion-resistant, and colorfast, which contributes to the plates' long service life.

5. How is the steel core protected?

The solid steel core is bolted to the rubber and finished with high-quality hard chrome plating.

6. Can the plates be used outdoors?

We advise against outdoor use. Although hard chrome plating offers excellent corrosion protection, it isn't completely rustproof. Micro-cracks or damage to the hard chrome can lead to rust forming on the steel core underneath. For outdoor training, we recommend our High Temp Bumper Plates.

7. Do the plates meet international standards?

Yes. Our Competition Bumper Plates are built to IWF standards in both design and precision. The maximum weight tolerance of +/- 10 grams meets the international requirements for competition approval. They pair perfectly with the Alpha barbell for weightlifting and the Beta barbell for powerlifting.

8. What's the advantage of the color-coded weights?
