What is a GHD?

  • Gluteus, or GLUTE for short, refers to the gluteal muscles, one of the largest muscle groups in the human body and the most powerful extensors of the hip joint
  • The gluteal muscles are supported by the HAMS (hamstrings). They are located on the back of the thighs and are responsible for bending the legs with the hamstrings
  • The most popular exercise for strengthening the back muscle chain is Glute Ham Raises (GHR) - this exercise is most effectively performed on a Glute Ham Developer (GHD)

GLUTE HAM DEVELOPER WORKOUT

  • The hamstrings are often neglected in strength training. Our GHD can help to balance muscular imbalances
  • All exercises can be performed with your own body weight or intensified with additional weights such as bumper plates or wall balls
  • In addition, the Atletica GHD has band pegs for the use of resistance bands
  • The use of such fitness bands promises an uneven resistance curve for new training stimuli and to improve explosive power against resistance
  • Glute Ham Raises: Your feet are fixed in the foot pads, your knees lean in front of the hip pad and your upper body is initially upright. Now lean forward until you are almost parallel to the floor. With a controlled upward movement, you now straighten your upper body again
  • Nordic Curls: The same movement, only the knees are not in front of the pad, but on it. This changes the lever arm and the movement becomes significantly more strenuous
  • GHD sit-ups: The opposite version of the Glut Ham Raises. GHD sit-ups not only train the abdominal muscles, but also the hip flexors and improve your explosive power from the hips
  • Sorenson Hold and Glute Ham Hold are among the other possible exercises
