This is one of the most important questions when buying a Power Rack – and at the same time one of the most frequently underestimated.
Many people underestimate the depth of the rack in particular (not the width or height). A Power Rack that looks good on paper can suddenly be far too big in a real garage or basement.
In this post we show you realistic space figures and recommend the most sensibly compact Atletica models that also work well in smaller rooms.

Short answer up front
Most people need at least:
- Width: approx. 130–150 cm
- Depth: approx. 120–180 cm (depending on the model and Lat Pulldown)
- Height: approx. 220–235 cm
The depth is almost always the limiting factor.

Which models are really suitable for small rooms?
1. R8 Bradley EXO with 42 cm crossbar depth (most compact variant)
This is currently one of the most space-saving serious options from Atletica. With just 42 cm of depth in the rack area, you'll fit well in many smaller garages or basements. If needed, you can still switch to deeper crossbars later or add attachments.
2. R8 Blackhawk
A very good choice if you want an integrated Lat Pulldown and still want to stay relatively compact. The total depth of approx. 181 cm is acceptable for most garages.
3. R7 EVO Fighter
Often a bit handier and more compact than the large R8 models. Especially interesting if you're looking for an all-in-one with a Smith Machine and don't need maximum modularity.

Important space-saving tips
- Choose the smallest sensible depth (42 cm or 78 cm on the R8). The 108 cm variant needs significantly more room.
- Avoid unnecessary attachments at the start. The more attachments you mount right away, the more space you need.
- Plan a bit of clearance in front and behind (at least 50–70 cm of freedom of movement).
- Check the height: Most Atletica racks are between 220–231 cm tall. In some basements with low ceilings it gets tight.
- Wall mounting / tight placement: Some people place the rack directly against the wall. This saves space, but limits the exercises a bit.

Frequently asked questions about space requirements
Is 2 meters of depth enough for a Power Rack?
Yes, with the more compact variants (especially the 42 cm or 78 cm crossbar). With 108 cm or a large Lat Pulldown tower it gets tight.
Can I place the rack directly against the wall?
Yes, many people do. But you'll then lose a bit of freedom of movement towards the back.
How important is the height?
Very important. Most racks are over 220 cm tall. With low ceilings (under 230–235 cm) it quickly becomes problematic.
Can I later convert a deeper rack into a shallower one?
With the R8 series, partly yes (the crossbars are interchangeable). That's an advantage of the modular design.

Conclusion
For most smaller garages and basements, the R8 Blackhawk and above all the R8 Bradley EXO with 42 cm crossbar depth are the best compact options from Atletica.
You don't have to go straight for the largest and deepest model. With the right configuration, you can get very good and safe training even in a small space.
